I'm sure Derek did the same. Your stock reply was always "oh I'm scared of the roads" or "mountain biking is totally cooler". Well I'm glad you've come to your senses, even if it took 5 years and the bay area to change your mind. FYI, I am now "socking it to OPEC" in my new Prius. That is, when I'm not riding to work (once/week in summer). 4 of us with full backpacks fit comfortably on a trip to San Gorgonio this past weekend, and I got 46 mpg including climbing hills with all that extra weight.
