Firefox Bookmarks Synchronizer
I use the internet primarily from two locations, home and work. I recently made the switch to an IMAP based email system in which all my emails and email folders are stored on a central server. Regardless of whether I access my email from home, work, or wherever, I always have all my emails and email folders available to me.
For my web browser bookmarks, I desired a similar functionality. Regardless of whether I’m at home or work, I want to be able to have access to the same set of bookmarks - I wanted my home bookmarks and my work bookmarks to be synchronized. After some hunting around, I was able to find the perfect solution. There exists a Firefox extension which essentially allows you to store your bookmarks on a central server (via FTP or HTTP/WebDAV) which Firefox can then download. If I add a bunch of bookmarks and want to update the bookmarks that are stored on the central server, I just upload them.
I installed Bookmarks Synchronizer 3, a fantastic Firefox extension originally written by Torisugari and updated by Doug B to work with the latest Firefox 1.5.X. Installation was a breeze (as are all Firefox extensions), setting up the FTP communication was trivial, and using it is painless and intuitive. Now the bookmarks on my home Mac are perfectly synchronized with the bookmarks on my work PC. All in all, a fantastic Firefox extension - certainly one of my favorites and highly recommended!
