Water Dog Lake

Our goal is to ride at least once a week, and since we didnt’ have a whole lot of time this weekend, we decided to check out one of the local trails. Water Dog Lake Park is a wooded area near our house that’s close enough that we could ride to. Our book gave only a brief description of this trail, although it did mention that many of the trails in this park were technically challenging. It didn’t sound like the best trail for training, but we decided to check it out anyway.

After riding a few miles on the street, we reached the park’s entrance where we had to climb a dirt road for about 2 miles. That part was good training, but the rest of our ride really wasn’t. The trail system from there contained a number of fairly steep hills which were nice little heart pumping workouts, but then we entered a wooded section with some pretty steep descents that were pretty overgrown with bushes. Judy didn’t like it much and ended up walking down many sections.

We weren’t really sure where we were, but soon emerged behind a condo complex and were able to get our bearings. We hopped back on the road and headed back home. It wasn’t the best training ride and Judy didn’t like the technical descents. I’m not sure I liked it all that much either since many parts were overgrown, but it still has potential so I may head back sometime in the future to explore a little further.

Got something to say?
