Boston

Judy and I went out to Boston to celebrate Oliver’s (Judy’s brother) graduation from Worcester Polytechnic Institute. Initially, we had planned to stay in the area a few extra days and thought it might be fun to visit Maine’s Acadia National Park and/or do some bouldering around the area. There are supposedly some fairly good bouldering spots throughout the Northeastern states. As we looked further into things, however, we discovered that this time of year is typically prime mosquito season, potentially making any outdoor activity a downright miserable affair (and that’s talking from personal experience!). Judy was also pretty busy at work and preferred not to take a lot of time off so in the end, we decided to keep the trip short.
Our activities in Boston turned out to be rather boring. If you’re into historical stuff, the city of Boston is great, but being the uncultured heathens that we are, we really didn’t have much interest in it. We visited, shopped, and had lunch at the famous Fanuel Hall, cruised around the city a bit, sampled some Boston clam chowder (which wasn’t really much better than Campbell’s), had a lobster lunch at the famous Legal Seafoods (which was good, but nothing spectacular), went on the famous Duck Tour (the amphibious vehicle was unique and kind of interesting, but the tour was just ho-hum. The worst part was this stupid quacking kid right behind us who just wouldn’t shut up.). Of course, we also attended Oliver’s graduation where we got to see his school and apartment as well as meet some of his friends. We also made a side trip to Douglas, MA to visit Barry, Kathy, and their latest addition, Andrew. All in all, it wasn’t the typical trip that you’ll find on RohJuh.com, but was nevertheless fun, just in a different, more relaxing kind of way. Here’s the pics.
